YouMe Clothing

We had a fantastic morning sharing breakfast and good works with YouMe founder Lauren Wallace. After breakfast, we started cutting and sewing with four sewing machines. Our cutting and sewing circle process took place as follows: first go through the clean, gently used, clothes in the bin and take a piece out and pin it to a new YouMe t-shirt. Once the piece of clothing is pinned to the shirt it proceeds to the sewers.  The sewers sew the patch on the shirt, add a hang tag, fold and prepare for selling.  In total, our group finished 36 t-shirts with patches that are ready to sell. Our group has worked with YouMe once before and each time it gets better and better and we accomplish more.

YouMe partners with communities in need and exchange new clothes for their oldest garments – which are washed, cut, incorporated into YouMe clothing products and sold. Proceeds then fund community-led development projects. It’s a cycle – a beautiful rags to resources story. To learn more visit http://www.youmeclothing.org/.
