IRT Tijuana House Build

On January 28th, 2017 our Faith and Works group took a trip down to Tijuana to build a house for a family of 6. Our group was split up into a painting crew and the building crew. The painters job was to paint all the interior walls of the house, while the builders built the frame and roof.  The outside walls and roof of the house were a pastel green to match the mother’s eyes and the inside walls were a salmon color.  After the walls were painted, we raised the walls and eventually the roof, and anchored the structure together.  At the end of the day we had a wonderful key ceremony presenting the keys to Sergio and Maria Rivas Moreal.  In all, it was a long trip from 4:30 am until 7:00 pm and was well worth waking up before sunrise. For this project we partnered with International Relief Teams. More information on them can be found at http://irteams.org/projects/building-homes-tijuana.
