It had been nearly 7 years since one of our very first works project, our visit to the San Diego Food Bank. The Faith & Works team decided it would be fun to return to the Food Bank for a 2-hour evening warehouse shift. Our first task was to inspect 50-pound bags of onions and divide them into smaller bags to be given to families in need. Because there were so many pallets of onions to prepare, we didn’t think it would be possible to get all the work done in one shift, but thanks to everyone’s excellent teamwork and the classic 80’s music on the radio, we finished early! Since we had extra time, our next task was to inspect HUGE crates of fresh oranges and prepare small bags for distribution. It was a lot of work, but we got it all done. After our shift, we took our traditional group photo which was fun because we tried to recreate the photo we took back in 2010! It was amazing to see how much we’ve changed since our first visit.
