Our Faith and Works group was inspired to reach out to orphans and widows, as this is a forgotten segment of the population that seems to be overlooked.  We discovered an organization called “Together We Rise” which provides foster children with custom designed duffel bags, filled with blankets, teddy bears, personal care products and some fun, unique gifts. Many times, these kids have nothing but the clothes on their backs and carry their personal belongings around in a black trash bag. We acquired the duffel bags and sent  each of our F&W families out to purchase goods for the bags. Then  we got together for a decorating party at Phil and Tracey’s home to finish the artwork and then filled the 19 bags.   The 19 bags were delivered to the Polinsky Childrens Center in San Diego.  Needless to say, the staff at Polinsky were  thrilled with our handiwork.
