Men have men’s groups and women have women’s bible studies groups.  Children have Sunday school and teens have community service projects.  How could we combine all of these so that the entire family could learn, grow and come together in service as one loving family?   We looked at many of the church ministries and outreach projects, both inside our church and outside our church.   We simply could not find anything that embraced the whole family.

Why not start our own small faith community?  Why not include the whole family?  Why limit the families to just those who belong to our church?  Why can’t we listen to God’s message and then go out and provide acts of kindness?

Inspired by James 2:14-18, “Faith & Works” our 5 families came together to form “Faith & Works”.

“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?  Can that faith save him?  If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to him, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well’, but do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?  So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.  Indeed someone may say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’  Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.” James 2:14-18
